A. Numerals indicating the official number of each house or building shall be conspicuously placed immediately above, on or at the side of the entrance so that the number can be plainly seen from the street line.

B. The numerals used shall not be less than four inches in height when the house or building is no more than forty feet from the street. If the building is set back beyond forty feet from the street, the numerals shall be six inches in height. All numerals shall be of durable material and clearly visible from the street.

C. House or building numbers shall be set on a background of a contrasting color.

D. When a house or building is more than one hundred twenty-five feet from the street, the numerals shall be installed on a post at the beginning of the driveway or easement going to the house or building and shall be at least four inches in height and be constructed of durable material.

E. On residential, commercial or industrial buildings having rear entrances which open upon an alley (street not included) or private driveway, the numbers assigned for the front or principal entrance may, in addition, be required on the rear entrance, garage or gate, at the discretion of the code official.
