City staff shall prepare a report and recommendation on proposed plan amendments which shall be presented to the planning commission.

A. Notification in city newsletter outlining proposed text or map amendments no less than fourteen days prior to the public hearing; and

B. Notification to all Algona residents via bulk mailing within the city. Mailings to be completed by the city.

C. A prominently displayed four foot by four-foot orange sign with eight-inch black lettering across the top stating “PUBLIC NOTICE” posted on the affected property indicating the date, time and place of the public hearing as well as a detailed description of the proposed amendment being sought no less than thirty days prior to the public hearing.

D. Additional notice in one of the following forms:

1. City webpage;

2. City bulletin board.

Costs for all public notification as listed above shall be borne upon the applicant and shall be in addition to the application fee.

Following the public hearing by the planning commission, the planning commission shall make a recommendation that shall be forwarded to the city council for action. (Ord. 975-05 § 7).
