A. The police department of the city shall be under the direction and control of the chief of police subject to the direction of the mayor. The chief of police shall present before the appropriate judge all violations of ordinances which come to his knowledge. He may pursue and arrest violators of city ordinances beyond the city limits.

B. The chief of police shall administer the operation of the police department. His duties are as detailed, but not confined, to those contained in the job description on file in the office of the city clerk/treasurer and as may be updated from time to time. This position is not subject to civil service. (Ord. 739 § 3, 1993; Ord. 206 § 1, 1970).
