Violation of any of the provisions of this title or failure to comply with any of its requirements, or any of the requirements or conditions imposed by the city council or hearing examiner, shall constitute a misdemeanor. Any person who violates this title or fails to comply with any of its requirements shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or be imprisoned for not more than six months, or both, and in addition shall pay all costs and expenses involved in the case. Each day such violation continues shall be considered a separate offense and punishable as such.

The owner or tenant of any building, structure, premises, or part thereof, and an architect, builder, contractor, agent, or other person who commits, participates in, assists in, or maintains such violation, may each be found guilty of a separate offense and suffer the penalties herein provided.

In case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted or maintained, or any building, structure or land is used in violation of this act, or of any resolution made under authority conferred hereby, the proper authorities of the city, in addition to other remedies, may institute any appropriate action or proceedings to prevent such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, conversion, maintenance, or use, to restrain, correct, or abate such violations, to prevent the occupancy of such building, structure, or land, or to prevent any illegal act, conduct, business, or use in or about such premises.
