The purpose of this chapter is to preserve the public health, peace and safety by prohibiting the possession or maintenance of exotic animals other than in the case of certain limited exceptions as provided in AMC 6.16.030, and to limit and set conditions on exotic animals possessed or maintained as of the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter.
