The building official as designated by the mayor, and such other staff assistance as is provided from time to time, shall administer and enforce AMC Titles 15 and 22. If the building official shall find that any provision of AMC Titles 15 and 22 is being violated, he shall notify in writing the person responsible for such violation and order corrective action. He shall order discontinuance of illegal use of land, structures or buildings; removal of illegal buildings or structures or of additions or alterations or structural changes thereto; discontinuance of any illegal work being done; or shall take any other action authorized by this code to ensure compliance therewith or to prevent its violation.
